Pet Connection &bull Sep 2, 2010
Did you ever wonder how activism happens? How do the leaders and role models begin to make a difference in their communities? USA Today paints three portraits of people who saw a need that wasn't being met, and decided that since action needed to be taken, they'd do it. It all started a few years back when… Full Story »

Cats (Wordpress) &bull Aug 25, 2010

Mandatory spay/neuter: Sacrificing animal lives to ideology
Pet Connection &bull Aug 24, 2010
Work to put in place the set of policies and procedures that have worked to bring every single community that is saving more than 90 percent of the dogs and cats that come into their shelter system to that goal? It seems obvious, doesn't it, that the answer is number two. So why are so many self-proclaimed animal lovers dead-set on number one - which is, in case you are new here, some form of mandatory spay/neuter law like California's SB 250, currently trying to find enough votes to pass? For many such people, it's because they haven't thought it… Full Story »

For the Love of Cats...I'm starting to purr! Help!
Cats (Wordpress) &bull Aug 21, 2010
I have cats. Waayyy too many cats! Striped ones, solid coloured ones, bi-colours, and in more shades of gray than you can imagine. There are predictions being made around my loved ones that I will become that crazy cat lady with the wind chimes that does tarot cards in the old house on the edge of town. Hmmmit's hard to argue with that since that pretty much sums up my life already. I'm just not crazyyet! But in the meantime what can you do? It is what… Full Story »

Pet Connection &bull Aug 12, 2010
When it comes to no-kill communities, where the rubber meets the road is what happens when times get tough. This fall, the City of Calgary's Animal Services Centre Clinic will begin offering free spay and neuter procedures for dogs and cats owned by low-income Calgarians. Noah the rescue kitten and his feline family
Cats (Wordpress) &bull Aug 10, 2010
In October of 2009, around 6:15 in the morning I received a phone call from my husband. I can barely make out what he is saying because there is this loud background noise that sounds like a bird desperately chirping away. Turns out the bird noise was a kitten that was found near the engine up underneath hubs work truck, he rode up there for about twenty miles. As you can imagine, the tiny kitten was so scared, but he could not have found a better person to take care of him. After he was wedged out of the… Full Story »

I just got done crunching some numbers and as it stands, TEAM IBKC has brought in a whopping $48,734.05 (this include money donated online to all team members, online auctions, and offline donations I collected from friends and family) There were a total of 880 donations. The average donation online was $42.59, which is up about $10 from last year! During our fundraiser, we had three "devoted" days. One for The Senior Cat Medical Fund, one for the Foster Program, and one for Spay and Neuter programs. Here are the total amounts raised for each of these days.
